I had the pleasure of taking part in the Elgin Fringe Festival this weekend. After two rehearsals, one of which I was out of town for; and a tech/dress, we put on four great performances of the world premier of "Paradigm." Performing is always a blessing, and each show has it's own message; but every once in a while you get a chance to be a part of something thought provoking and raw. This was the case with "Paradigm." We brought up topics of monogamy, polyamory, and marriage as it stands through different trials. We recieved a lot of positive feedback from audience members, and the highest compliment a performer hopes for, "It gave me so much to really think about." Whether the audience walked out agreeing or rejecting some of the ideas presented in this new piece of work, they left knowing a new perspective. This is something we as performers strive to do, show different walks of life in a "safe" environment for the audience. I am so grateful that I had the privilege to work with such a talented group of actors and such a gifted writer/director. Here's hoping our paths cross again!
