Yesterday, we finished our residency week with Chaska, WI. We had 76 kids audition for us on Monday. We lost one along the way, due to other commitments.
Rehearsals were smooth all week, the venue was gorgeous, and the kids were fabulous.
Going in, Joseph and I were nervous about how large this cast was going to be, especially since we would be over our limit of 70 kids (thank the Lord for extra costumes!) Our audition process was a little longer than usual, but in the end we managed to find the best part for each kid.
This may be one of my favorite weeks. The kids were simply amazing. They were well behaved, they learned everything quicly, and they were more than ready for full run throughs on Wednesday.
During this week, we were fortunate enough to have the wonder Pinocchio tour tea, and our boss in neighboring towns with their own shows. We got to spend a few evenings with them, grabbing dinners and going bowling. It's always a blessing when we have another team nearby to just chill with at the end of the day. Knowing that they are experiencing the same things you are that week, and that you have more than just your tour partner for support nearby, is a comfort.
Friday, we were able to see Pinocchio in Shakopee and support our fellow teammates. They had a wonderful run. We then headed back to our group for our final dress rehearsal and then the first show. The kids nailed it. It was a relief to not constantly worry about the ones out on stage knowing all of their lines or needing assistance. This left us more time to make sure the other kids backstage were ready to go for their cues and staying quiet in the wings.
Saturday they came out and did even better. Joseph and I were so proud of all of their hardwork. We were so pumped, we would have loved to have one more go with this group.
After loading up our van, we headed to Valleyfair Amusement Park on Shakopee with the Pinocchio team and our boss. We had a blast. After riding roller coasters all day, we grabbed dinner, and even got to do a little karaoke.
Yesterday, after leaving Chaska, we met up with most of the other tour teams at the Mall of America. It was great to catch up with the teams we already knew, and meet the teams that trained the two weeks after us. This week showed me how blessed I am to be a part of this company. My colleagues are some of the most amazing people I've ever met, and it is amazing to see how this company has brought us together to pass our passions on to the next generation. So cheers to my Prairie Fire family!
